Toyota dropped the news that at the Geneva International Motor Show, it will unveil a new performance derived Yaris. The Yaris will be displayed alongside the Yaris WRC.
If you haven’t been keeping up with latest World Rally Championship news, then you may be surprised to know that Toyota returned to the WRC after 17 years with a new vehicle based on its subcompact Yaris. In just the 2nd race of the year Toyota place first and finished 29.2 seconds ahead of the competition from Ford, which filled the following two positions.
In December there were a number of videos released of the Yaris going full out, getting some air, and sounding very angry.
However, when the Geneva Show gets into full swing on March 9th it will likely be the 210hp hot hatch Yaris getting all the attention. Toyota says that the high performance Yaris is expected to make the link between the Yaris WRC rally and lesser cars filling up the Yaris lineup.
The rest of the line-up is set to receive design modifications, including a new front face, new rear styling, and a more modern interior.
All eyes will be on Geneva and it is great to see Toyota continuing to inject some much needed excitement in its lineup.
