2019 Detroit Auto Show – The Top 5 Press Conferences We Are Excited For

The 2019 North American International Auto Show is just hours away. The press conference is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am Monday, January 14th.  There are a number of vehicles set to debut. We have compiled a list of the top 5 manufacturer press conferences we are most excited about.

Toyota

At this point it is not clear whether it is excitement or exasperation. Either way, the new Toyota Supra tops our list as the vehicle we are most ready to make its debut. Toyota has been dragging out this debut ad nauseam. After numerous leaks, the particulars aren’t much of a mystery anymore. The Supra is heavily based on the new BMW Z4 and is powered by a BMW sourced 3.0-liter inline-6. We are interested to see if there will be any indication of pricing, a 4-cylinder offering, and what the interior will look like. The torture will finally end at at 9:40 am when Toyota’s press conference is scheduled to begin.

Ford

Ford has already shown us the new 2020 Ford Explorer but it will be nice to see the SUV in the flesh. The more exciting debut will be the, possibly, 700 horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500.

Infiniti

As electric cars become more and more common, every manufacturer is stepping into the EV marketplace. Inifiniti is set to debut the QX Inspiration. Infiniti plans to introduce a line of electric vehicles and the QX Inspiration will give us a good idea of what that lineup will look like.

Lexus

Lexus will display the LC Convertible Concept that has already made its virtual debut ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. While Lexus is calling this a concept, it is safe to bet the vehicle will soon make it into production.

Lexus also plans to showcase a Track Edition RC F.

Subaru

Subaru will revseal a limited edition STI called the S209. It will be interesting to see how far Subaru will go in making this STI a unique offering.
